Sikkim the tiny Himalayan state is a wonderland by all accounts. Overlooked by Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak, Sikkim is attractive equally fortheightseer, the adventure sports enthusiast and those interested in Buddhism and Tibetology. From a low of 800 ft. above sea level to the Summit of Mt. Kanchenjunga (28,169 ft.), the guardian deity of Sikkim and the third highest peak in the world. Mountains criss-cross the country that is rich in flora and fauna, stunning mountains, beautiful alleys,clearlakes and lush evergreen forests. In high altitudes where yaks graze are found the snow leopard, the blue sheep, goral, tahr and the red panda the state animal of Sikkim.
Some 600 to 1000 species of orchids alongwith a variety of plants and flowers create visual delight, all of which the Goverment of Sikkim helps to protect by creating a national park, two wildlife sanctuaries, an alpine sanctuary and a rhododendron sanctuary.
Itinerary:
Day 1:Drive to Yuksom (1770 mts – 6 hours).
Pick up for Bagdogra, Bhadrapur and drive to Yoksum. Camp or lodge.
Day 2:Trek Yuksom to Tshoka (2745 mts - 12 kms).
Trek through thick virgin forest climbing steadily to the Tibetan village at Tshoka.
Tents, Trekkers' hut or lodge.
Day 03: Tsoka to Dzongri (4000 mts - 12 kms – 3-4 hours).
Climb through rhododendron forest to the meadows at Dzongri. Tents or Trekkers' hut.
Day 4:Trek Dzongri to Tshoka (2745 mts - 8 kms).
Morning climb Dzongri Top for sunrise views over Mt. Kanchenjunga and other peaks. Afternoon trek to Tsoka. Tents or Trekkers' Hut.
Day 5:Trek Tsoka to Yuksom (10 kms – 4-5 hours.
Retrace your trek through the forested trail back to Yoksum. Tents or lodge.
Day 6:Drive Yuksom to Next destination.
Today drive to Bagdogra Airport, NJP Railway Station, Darjeeling or Kailimpong. End of trek.
