Because of the Bhutanese government's policy of restricting the number of tourists that visit Bhutan to four thousand per year the trekking trails of Bhutan are relatively empty of tourists and youare unlikely to meet other people othe than the occaisional herdsman or caravan.
Bhutan is rich in flora and fauna and herds of blue sheep can be seen grazing on the slopes along your trek. One brochure on Bhutan even mentions the possibility of seeing a Snow Leopard!
Starting with sightseeing at Paro, you will trek up the Paro Chu (Chu river) valley along one of the old trade routes to Tibet, past serene villages and ancient forts and vast yak pastures.
Mt. Chomolhari, one of the most sacred of Bhutanese mountains creates an impressive backdrop to your trek through the villages of Shana and Seo Thangthaka (3520 m.) to Jangothang (4020 m.), the base camp of Mt. Chomolhari.
Cross the Nyelela pass, the high point of your trek at 4250 m to continue to Lingshi, Shodu, Dolam and finally to the capital of Thimpu.
Spend a day sightseeing in Thimpu and then drive Paro to fly back to Kathmandu.
